Why this artwork came to life

THE EYE was never part of the plan. Which, in hindsight, seems entirely appropriate. I'd just finished another painting. There was still colour left. Still energy left. A small canvas happened to be nearby. It could easily have ended there.

Instead...

I reached for a piece of chalk. Not because I had a clever idea, simply because it felt right. And then something curious happened.

The painting didn't really change.

My way of looking at it did.

Suddenly I could see something that had been there all along. THE EYE wasn't created by adding something new. It appeared the moment I finally noticed what was already there.

About the Original

THE EYE is a one-of-a-kind original artwork. Every layer has been created entirely by hand using palette knives, acrylic paint and chalk. There is only one original.

Just like there is only one story told exactly this way.
