Why this artwork came to life

Some songs entertain us. Others quietly change the way we see the world.

AGE OF AQUARIUS, from the musical Hair, was one of those songs for me. It speaks of a new age.

• Peace.

• Hope.

• Freedom.

Not the freedom to do whatever you like. The freedom to become who you've been all along. As I worked on this painting, something became wonderfully clear.

The greatest revolutions rarely happen out in the streets.

They begin in complete silence. The moment someone decides to stop organising their life around expectations that never truly belonged to them.
